What does it all mean?
Given what we know about the layout technique so far, we can start to make a few assumptions about the types of layouts we are likely to need given the conditions we’re going to be bowling on. The longer, heavier conditions almost always require us to get the ball started up sooner. With out much thought, we know we will be using lower totals to try to cover more boards and lower ratios to try to get the ball start up sooner on the lane. Conversely, if we are facing shorter, drier conditions, we will likely pick higher totals and higher ratios to help get us down the lane more before hooking.
