The Angle Ratio

Like the Total Angle Sum, the Angle Ratio is exactly what it sounds like – the ratio between the two angles that comprise the layout. The ratio is ALWAYS expressed as Drilling angle to VAL angle.

The Angle Ratio helps us determine the overall shape of the shot. Regardless of conditions, for any given bowler, lower ratios will tend to roll sooner and transition smoother at the break point, while higher ratios will tend to roll later and transition faster at the break point.
