I’ve been working in and around the web development industry since early 2001. \u00a0I was a Computer Science student at Waikato University, in Hamilton, New Zealand. \u00a0One day, a\u00a0friend of mine, who happened to be a freelance web developer and designer asked me if I wanted to do a small PHP job for him. \u00a0He was well versed in ASP and didn’t feel like learning a new language for what would probably be a one off PHP project and he knew I was already comfortable with C++, so the learning curver for me would be much lower. \u00a0He offered me $400 for my part in the project and being a student, I said “HELL YEAH!” \u00a0I haven’t looked back since.<\/p>\n
In all these years, while every other part of my repotoire of tools was going from strength to strength, there has always been string in my bow that has simply never been tightened, and that is web design.<\/p>\n
So, after more that six years in and around web development, I’ve finally decided to chance my arm and attempt to learn some simple web design skills. \u00a0Why? \u00a0If I get good enough at it, I can build and design my own sites from scratch. \u00a0That makes me that much more employable, ultimately making it a little easier to make a living in what is fast becoming one of the most, if not the most, competitive markets on the planet.<\/p>\n
Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to splash my wares on this site, if I deem my efforts worthy of public scrutiny. Only time will tell, really.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
